Beaches
You will be spoilt for choice with a coastline filled with wide sandy beaches washed by crystal clear shallow waters. So if you like the idea of soaking up the sun on fine golden sand or watching the kids play in the safe waters, or if you want to join the naturists, here are a few suggestions with some links at the end for further information on the extensive choice of beaches and coves.
Cristal Platja
Our nearest beach, Cristal Platja, is 30 minutes drive away and is in a lovely peaceful area with, as the name suggests, crystal clear water. The water gets fairly deep fairly quickly, unlike a lot of the Costa Daurada beaches. It is mainly a residential area with restaurants, beach snack bars in summer, sun lounger and pedal boat rental. Even in the height of the season we have never found it to be busy.
Arenal
Close to Cristal is Arenal, another blue flag beach with fine white sand and still waters. It is located very near to the Marina and at 1800 metres long, is very big. At the end nearest the port, a small stone breakwater closes it off from the sea. The promenade runs along the beach and has sun lounger hire, pedal boats, lifeguard service, bars, restaurants, hotels, campsites, etc.
Cala Forn
In an undeveloped area on the outskirts of the Tres Calas area, this is a deep cove with crystal clear water and a sandy seabed. It is very well equipped, with a lifeguard service, volleyball nets, open-air bars, and a WC cabin.
Ebro Delta Beaches
Ruimar
A highly-equipped Blue Flag beach with fine golden sand and still waters. On the shore you can hire pedal crafts and loungers. You get to the beach on raised, boardwalks so as not to damage the small dunes.
Els Eucalyptus
One of the most unspoilt spots in the Delta, this is a very quiet beach with crystal clear shallow water, fine golden sand and moderate waves. It is 4500 metres long and very wide.
Naturist Beaches
El Torn - L'Hospitalet de l'Infant
A very big stretch of sand, one of the best naturist beaches in Europe. A big rock or islet is a main feature of this great blue flag beach with fine gravel sand and moderate waves. It is located in wild surroundings.
La Marquesa – Deltebre
With fine golden sand and still waters, this beach Is quite long. There is a car park and restaurant. Its main attraction is the path on the way to the lighthouse where there are some sand dunes in a protected nature reserve that are particularly beautiful.
Els Trabucador – Sant Carles de la Rapita
Trabucador Beach is a long inlet of the Ebro Delta whose beauty and tranquility is simply breathtaking. It has fine golden sand and moderate waves.
Cap Roig – L’Ampolla
A small beach lying amongst craggy rocks with fine golden sand and moderate waves. It lies in the very peaceful town of the same name. Complete with all kinds of services and facilities, there is an open-air bar with terrace, a lifeguard service and you can hire pedal boats, sunbeds, etc. It is a blue flag beach with a small promenade running behind and lots of vegetation.
